We had a fantastic Cyber Monday yesterday and want to thank all our wonderful customers for a great start to the Holiday Season! We’ll still be taking orders for the holiday through the middle of the month, contact us if you have any questions about when your purchase will ship out.
Today has been dubbed Giving Tuesday and we’d like to tell you about a charity close to our homes and our hearts – Masonboro.org. Masonboro Island is a barrier island off the cost of Wilmington here in southeastern North Carolina. This nine mile long island is a nature preserve and home to sea turtles, foxes, and all kinds of sea birds and other marine wildlife and can only be accessed via boat. We are fortunate enough to live just a short ride away over the Intracoastal Waterway and spend a lot of time in the summer with our families on Masonboro camping, surfing, fishing, playing and lounging.
This island is also a special oasis for Colleen and me. We often kayak over for business meetings in the morning and draw inspiration from its amazing views and secluded feel. Masonboro.org is an organization dedicated to preserving the traditions of the island and protecting it for future generations. Last year they launched their Island Explorers, an education program for children “designed to mentor and develop future stewards of the Carolina coast”. For a donation of only $25 you can sponsor a child to participate in the program!
My husband, Meade, has been involved with the organization for a few years as a volunteer – he’s an educator himself, a high school biology teacher and is interested in preserving the coastal experience here in North Carolina. When Colleen and I started thinking of ways to give back today for Giving Tuesday we thought Masonboro.org would be the perfect fit! A portion of all of our sales for the entire month of December will be donated to Masonboro.org to further their Island Explorers program.
We’d love to hear how you’re giving back today and what charities are close to your heart.
